Tatham Wife Hole
Jack, Fay, Bob Cattley, Scott Nixon (KCC)
The good weather continues! Usual energy-sapping trudge up to the cave, in glorious sunshine.
Once inside, the downhill-ness of the cave is very apparent, followed by the 2 pitches in quick succession to the decidedly awkward, snaggy rift. One last thrutch and to the 3rd pitch. Down this and to the best feature of the whole cave – The Ramp.
A sprinkling of water livened up this climb down the hading rift, then into a bit more crawl at the bottom.
And to the duck –
– passable with one dry shoulder. Up into the rift – more snagginess – and the awkward, rather hand-holdless climb back down. Along to the last pitch which Scott descended to explore the gloopy stuff at the bottom.
And back. Needless to say, downhill-ness becomes uphill-ness on the way out and gravity isn’t on the side of the tackle bags.
Still, out at last to sunshine and that walk back down to the cars. Great caving again.
